Things to do and see in Culburra Beach – South Coast NSW

Culburra Beach is a charming holiday town, in a magical location to the east of Nowra and close to the north shore of Jervis Bay. The city was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, the architect who designed Canberra. Culburra Beach has very good amenities and a lovely shopping center that caters for most tourist needs, including a bait and tackle shop, surf shop, grocery store, video store, RV parks, and plenty of accommodations. vacation.

There are two main sandy shorelines, Culburra Beach, sheltered inland from the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, and Warrain Beach facing the sea with Nowra Surf Club at the northern end. Both sandy shorelines are patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months. With two great sandy coastlines to choose from, holidaymakers will generally find the surfing or bathing situation to match their desires – for swimmers, cyclists, bodyboarders and families with small children.

There is very good angling from the sandy shores, from the rocky headlands, and from boats in the current and offshore. Wollumboola Lake, south of town, is a protected waterfowl environment, as well as a great place for canoeing and kayaking. Most vacation activities center around surfing, swimming, fishing, and boating. There is a good selection of surf breaks, both patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months: Warrain Beach (with the Surf Life Saving Club) and the more sheltered Culburra Beach (Great for families). There is excellent fishing from the long beaches, rocky headlands and from your own boat or chartered boats. Live baits, such as pippies and beach worms, can be collected on the beach.
