Uganda’s 7 Must-See Attractions

Botanical Garden, Entebbe
The beautiful Entebbe Botanic Garden, established in 1901, is located on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa, conventionally close to Kampala and Entebbe International Airport. The gardens are home to a variety of open country and woodland species where vacation travelers can spend precious honeymoon moments. One of the best treasures of these botanical gardens are the birds like the African Fish Eagle, Forest Kingfisher, Glue Blue and Ross’s Turks, etc.

Bujagali Falls, Jinja
Bujagali Falls is a spectacular series of rapids that cascade. They are located near the source of the Nile and are about a 2-hour drive east of Kampala, near the city of Jinja. White water rafting at Bujagali Falls is one of the best vacation activities.

Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine, Wakiso
The Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine is located about 12 km from Kampala, on the Jinja road. This is the site where 37 Christian converts were burned alive on the orders of a Buganda king, Mwanga. A basilica church was built on the same site as the incident. The sanctuary church is dedicated in honor of the martyrs. Every year on June 3, pilgrims gather to celebrate the life and courage of these young Christian converts.

The mark of the equator
The equator is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth. In Uganda, it is located in the Masaka district. It is a great place, attracting countless tourists to Uganda to take a look at the mark that divides the land in half. It is a place worth visiting and many choose to take pictures on the spot.

Semliki Valley National Park
Located in the far west of Uganda, in the Bundibugyo district, in a remote corner of southwestern Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border, Semliki National Park is the best destination for adventure trails in Uganda. It is located in the northern foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. It has a wide variety of wildlife and birds. Some of the popular animals to spot include lions, giraffes, and much more. Key bird species include the shy shoebill, African pygmy goose, pearl-spotted owl, etc. Bird watchers should not miss a visit.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Park is a true adventure satiator. It is the most famous National Park in Uganda. It is famous for the endangered mountain gorillas. The best gorilla safaris in Uganda are organized in Bwindi. The park is located in southwestern Uganda, about 535 km from Kampala and can be accessed by road from several directions. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is an excellent place for bird watching. Some of the rare bird species found here include the black-billed weaver, grey-headed sunbird, strange weaver, African green broadbill, etc. Keen bird watchers are also catered for.

Lake Mburo National Park
Located between the Masaka and Mbarara districts, Lake Mburo National Park is a relatively small park in Uganda. It is the only park in Uganda that contains a complete lake. It is home to several species of mammals, including zebras, impalas, elands, topi, and buffalo. It is also the best among all national parks for bird watching. Bird varieties found here include white-winged warbler, cisticola, brown-throated weaver, etc.
