Every day we are influenced by what is around us… the words that are spoken, the smells that we smell, the sights that we take in. The goal of feng shui is to promote beauty, harmony, and aspiration, the elevation of our eyes toward lofty, noble, and worthwhile goals.

The poet Maya Angelou said that we need to be careful about the words we say because the words will “hang on the walls.” Of course, she is talking about what we do figuratively. However, it is also true of what we hang on our walls in the literal sense. That is why it is important that we surround ourselves with uplifting visions.

Feng shui encourages the application of beautiful and supportive imagery. Pictures and artworks with depressing themes, violence, or pictures whose presence makes us sad or unhappy are not suitable or appropriate for the walls of our home. Instead, only those images that are inspiring, uplifting, and beautiful should be placed on the walls.

Fortunately, you can practice symbolic feng shui by selecting certain images, such as people, happy occasions, beauty, wealth, or power. Particular images in feng shui have special meanings and can be used wherever you want the most interest. For example, a poster or painting of a waterfall is a great way to boost professional feng shui and income.

When you’re looking to improve your feng shui, consider simply looking around you. Then see if the images you’re looking at are saying what you want them to say. If not, consider replacing those images with images that make a positive and uplifting statement. Check out the tips below for more positive feng shui imagery ideas.

1. Use beautiful water images for professional or financial help. When placed in the northern sector of the home, living room or office, these images can provide an immediate career boost. To boost career chi in the bedroom (or anywhere!) consider adding an image of a turtle.

Images of waterfalls and lakes are also appropriate for the wealth sector of the southeast. For more professional or financial help, consider adding an image of a ship sailing TO your home or office. Ships are especially auspicious omens of wealth to come. Consider adding a picture of a boat in the Southwest where it will help with relationships AND wealth because water is beneficial in the Southwest until 2023.

2. Gain recognition, friends and beneficial relationships with images of happy people. Looking for more friends or a more active social life? Maybe even FAME? Images of happy occasions and happy people are GREAT ways to bring more people into your life, as well as happier relationships and greater social recognition. Images like the following are excellent for improving your social status, both personally and professionally.

These can be hung in the south or southwest corners. Other good options for the South and Southwest are horses and birds. Hanging horses in the southwest sector can offer a good ride opportunity, so be prepared if you post a photo of a horse here!

3. Get help from mentors and image influencers in the NW. In order to receive help from those who are in a position to offer you a breakthrough in your career, studies, or life in general, you need to improve your “Powerful People” sector. This is the northwest corner of your home, living room, or office.

Pictures of international scenes like the Eiffel tower, London tower, Giza pyramids and other scenes are great for getting help from all corners of the world. Also, images of metallic structures, circular images, and gold or metallic colors are excellent options.

Maps, map images, globes, etc. they are all beneficial for the northwest sector of your home, office or living room. Because this is the place of “heaven,” it is also a wonderful place for paintings and images of religious figures or deities, angels, or religious sites like Jerusalem or Mecca. Great people like Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Gandhi or world leaders are also great options to increase the help of powerful people.

Be sure to surround yourself with images of people or places that you aspire to and that inspire you. We all must have something that encourages us and makes us want to achieve more and aim higher in our lives. Find an image that symbolizes that FOR YOU.

4. Avoid depressing, negative or violent images. Do you have images in your home that remind you of something sad, cruel, violent, or a failure? If so, these images constantly reinforce these negative messages. Look around you and if you have pictures or items like this, consider replacing them. Otherwise, these images will continue to fill your home with negative energy. Yes, even if your image is considered “fine art”, it is not worth sacrificing the energy of your home for this investment in negativity.
