Cpl William Lendrim Victoria Cross RE Crimean War

The summary of the appointment says:

On February 14, 1855 in the Crimea, Corporal Lendrim for his courage and example while supervising 150 French Chasseurs in the construction of the left attack of No. 9 Battery, replaced the entirety of the capsized gabions under extremely heavy fire. On April 11, 1855, Corporal Lendrim climbed on a loader and extinguished burning sandbags. She also repaired the breach under fire.

Medals of Corporal William Lendrim VC (January 1, 1830 – November 28, 1891). He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions in the Crimea in 1855.

VICTORY CROSS

Presented as the main award for bravery, available to all ranks, to cover all actions since the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854. A cross pattern. We observe a static lion guarding the royal crown, with the words FOR VALOR on a semicircular scroll. The Cross is suspended by a ring of a serif ‘V’ attached to a suspension bar decorated with laurel leaves. crimson ribbon

CRIMEAN MEDAL with SEVASTOPOL clasp

The Crimean War (1854 – 1856) was fought between Imperial Russia on one side and an alliance of France, the United Kingdom and the Ottoman Empire on the other. Most of the conflict took place in the Crimean peninsula, with additional actions in western Turkey, the Baltic Sea region, and the Russian Far East. The observer has the Wyon profile of Queen Victoria. The reverse shows a Roman soldier, armed with a circular shield and short sword, being crowned by a flying Victory. The closure is shaped like an oak leaf with acorn finials. The ribbon is pale blue with yellow edges.

INDIAN RIOT MEDAL with LUCKNOW clasp

This medal was awarded to troops who took part in operations to put down the Sepoy Mutiny which had been the immediate cause of the uprising, although it also served to focus attention on the conduct of affairs of the Honorable East India Company and it led directly to the transfer of the administration of India to the crown. This medal has the clasp of the campaign in Lucknow. The observer has the Wyon profile of Queen Victoria. The reverse shows the standing figure of Britannia awarding the laurels of victory, with the British lion next to it. INDIA appears at the top with the dates 1857-1858 in the exergue. The ribbon is white with two red stripes.

TURKISH MEDAL OF CRIMEA

Instituted by the Sultan of Turkey, this medal was awarded to the troops of the three allies who fought in the Crimea. Although the medals were intended for British, French and Sardinian troops respectively, they were issued at random due to the fact that most of the British version was lost at sea. The note shows a cannon, guns and the four flags allied with THE CRIMEA 1855 in the exergue. The reverse shows the Tughra and the Arabic date according to the Muslim calendar. The ribbon is crimson edged with green.

VICTORIAN LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL

Awarded to soldiers of exemplary conduct for 18 years of service. The watcher carries an arms trophy with the royal arms on an oval shield in the center. The reverse bears the inscription FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT. Crimson ribbon edged with white.
