Use an Airsoft silencer for that extra stealth factor
When people start thinking about making an airsoft silencer, questions of legality can arise. There is a common misconception that owning a suppressor gun is illegal under United States federal law. However, gun silencers are legal, as long as the owner has completed the proper paperwork and registration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Airsoft guns use a spring to propel a small pellet from its barrel towards a target and is not considered a lethal weapon. An airsoft silencer can be made from paper and some household items. Check your local state laws for more information on buying, creating, and owning airsoft silencers and mufflers.
To make a basic airsoft silencer (suppressor), you will need the following items:
- rolls of toilet paper
- scissors
- toilet paper or cotton balls
- tape of any kind, although duct tape works best
- Super glue
- material to cover it
Instructions
- To make an airsoft silencer (suppressor), you first cut the paper roll in half and flatten it. Make sure you don’t fold it too much, otherwise you could wrinkle the roll and render it unusable.
- Use super glue and place lines of super glue on the inside of the roll.
- Then place toilet paper or cotton balls on top of the super glue. When using toilet paper, it is easiest to fold the paper into semi-thick rolls and bundle them with tape.
- Add tape on top of that layer and super glue on the tape and repeat until the results are satisfactory.
- The final step in making an airsoft silencer (suppressor) is to roll the roll back up, tape it shut, and attach it to your gun. You can glue it all black, but be sure to add a bright color to the end to show that it’s not a real gun.
precautions
- Don’t let the super glue sit for too long, as this will cause it to dry before you can finish.
- If the roll is too light, try adding support with tape or by adding multiple rolls on top of it.
- The suppressor barrel should be clean with nothing protruding.
