Laziness, the biggest obstacle to success

Are you lazy?; You are lazy? Very few people can answer ‘No’ to that question. Basically, we are all lazy, although the degree of laziness can vary. If people have the option of doing nothing and reading a book that could improve their lives, which do you think most people would choose? Being idle, of course. Because? Because that’s so much easier!

There is this story of a man lying lazily under a date palm, a date fruit falls on him and lands on his chest. The guy is so lazy that he doesn’t move at all. After a while, he notices that a person is passing by on the back of a camel. The sloth calls out to the man on the camel, who gets off the camel and approaches the sloth and asks, “Why did you call me?” The sloth says, “Please take this date off my chest and put it in my mouth.” The camel driver gets angry: “You called me to do this? You have two hands, why don’t you do it yourself?” Saying this, he gets on his camel and leaves angrily. As he leaves, the lying man mutters to himself, “These camel riders are very lazy people.” Laziness is loving to be idle, not straining the mind and body in any way.

So why are we lazy? Maybe homework is unpleasant, I’m not in the mood, I have this fear of failure, fear of success, I can’t decide, slacking off feels good. Once we realize the real reason why we are lazy, we can get over it. Laziness is a habit that we have developed over time. It starts with simple things like being lazy to shave, bathe, shine your shoes, cut your nails, do your homework, read a book, not call a customer back, clean the work desk, update the check stub, pay the phone bill. , check the car, make the report… Because it is a learned habit, it can also be unlearned.

What could we lose if we continue to be lazy? Your work would always be pending, causing you a lot of stress, problems with the boss, low productivity, poor health, more mess, you will never be able to learn and grow, you miss opportunities, poor performance, low morale, frustration and failed tasks. Above all, we don’t feel good about ourselves.

Lazy people are good at making excuses, for example, I’m not in the mood right now, I need to think about it, I’ll take a nap first, I don’t have enough information about this, I need a drink first, I’m hungry, My head hurts, My stars aren’t there. Synchronized, My timing is not good… What is your excuse for not doing something? Remember, they are just excuses. My Guru taught me: “If you want to do something, you will find a way, but if you don’t want to do something, you will find an excuse.” So do you want to become a champion at producing great results or do you want to become a champion at making excuses?

The people around you are looking at you. You become a role model to the people around you, be it at home or in the workplace. If you project an image of being a lazy person, your credibility will take a beating; people won’t trust you and that could spell disaster.

If you want to be lazy, be lazy in a positive way. For example, when you feel the need to unfairly criticize someone, say to yourself, “I don’t feel like criticizing this person right now, since I’m not in the mood, I think I’ll do it tomorrow.” Say the same when you get angry, when you want to take revenge, when you think negatively or even when you want to commit suicide.

What action can we take to overcome our laziness? Here are some practical suggestions:

Take small steps: try to read only 5 pages of a 400 page book

Start taking action with simple tasks and then move on to more difficult tasks.

Talk to yourself in positive language: “I act immediately on the goals that are most important to me.”

Think of strong ‘why’ reasons for doing something.

Work with a partner to monitor your actions on a daily basis.

He associates a lot of pleasure in acting and a lot of pain in sitting around doing nothing.

We have three types of people. People who make things happen. People who let things happen to them. People wondering what happened. It is up to you to decide which class you want to belong to.
