Here’s Why Golf Courses Should Use Lithium Ion Batteries

In the United States, golf carts are a desirable form of transportation for many people. For a long time, golf carts used deep-cycle lead-acid batteries. Golf course managers today tend to use lithium-ion units because they offer several advantages over other types of batteries. Here are some compelling reasons why you should switch to lithium batteries. Keep reading to know more.

1. The Weight

Lithium batteries weigh a fraction of the weight of lead-acid units. Therefore, they have an advantage over other alternatives. Therefore, the cart can accommodate more people and transport many things to another place at a higher speed. And there will be no performance impact either.

Usually, golf carts that run on lead-acid batteries have a hard time going up a hill. In contrast, lithium batteries do not have that problem. So it is possible to transport more golfers to the course in a short period of time.

2. Charge

Depending on the size of the golf cart fleet, the time required to charge a typical lead-acid battery can affect golf cart availability. On average, a lead-acid battery requires at least 8 hours to fully charge. This is a long charging time.

In contrast, a lithium-ion unit can reach an 80% charge in less than 60 minutes. Therefore, golf carts will have less downtime. Also, there will be no need to have many cars.

Unlike regular batteries, lithium batteries are not damaged if you do not recharge them to their full capacity.

3. Zero maintenance

It takes a long time to perform regular maintenance on conventional lead-acid batteries. Additionally, there are plenty of downtimes that keep golfers off the golf course for hours.

But lithium ion batteries are maintenance free. Therefore, there will be no need to buy tools and maintenance products. Since these units are acid-free, there is no problem with dangerous spills.

4.Longer cycle life

The lifespan of a lithium battery is much longer than other types. On average, these units offer up to a 5,000 charge/discharge cycle. By contrast, traditional batteries will be useless after 1,000 cycles. Over time, this can help save a lot of time.

Although lithium batteries have high price tags, they help save a lot of time and money as time goes on. You do not need to check the acid levels in the batteries.

5. Better technology

Lithium-ion batteries have a built-in BMS, which refers to the Battery Management System. The role of this system is to make sure that these units don’t overload or overload by accident.

If the energy storage unit becomes hot, safety circuits within the battery can prevent the unit from overheating.

In short, these are just a few compelling reasons to use a lithium-ion battery instead of a lead-acid one.
