If you want to farm gold in WOTLK but don’t want to be too hassled, there is a solution. As you can probably see, whenever someone asks for help farming in Northrend, they are told to find crafting resources. Now don’t get me wrong. That is good advice. The best selling items in AH right now are Northrend Resources. But what if you could make money without having to sell anything on AH?

Personally, I don’t like having to grow and sell the same things most people do because I feel like I’m wasting my time. I spend hours growing some ingredients only to put them up for sale at a very low price because other people grow them too.

I wanted a place where the amount of gold I produce is directly proportional to the amount of time I spend there. I didn’t want to spend 5 hours a day just to do 500g or something like that. So I started looking for a place to grow something different and I found it, a good place to grow gold in WOTLK.

In West Storm Peaks you will find Valkyrion. This camp has some very special mobs called Nascent Val’kyrs. What’s special about these is that they have a 100% drop rate of a gray element called Dissolved Soul Essence. One of these items sells for 65 silver to NPC merchants. Kill 10 of these mobs and you will have 6.5 gold. Not only that, but they also drop items, coins, and other trash loot. Not a bad place to grow gold in WOTLK.

Kill these guys and the other mobs in that area and you’ll earn a lot of money. Also, if you have Skinned, kill the Infested Proto-Drakes there as well. When you skin them, you will get boreal leather and you might also get an icy dragon scale or even an arctic hide. These items are quite rare, which is why they sell for a lot of money.

But you can avoid any kind of competition in the AH simply by killing the Val’kyrs and the other mobs there. Or you can do a little more and get these other Drake items and earn even more money. This is how I grow gold at WOTLK.
