For those of you who never heard about the game called Runescape, I am going to tell you about it. You probably saw this game if you visit your local library, because you have tweens filling your library playing this game every day.

This popular game is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (Wow, isn’t that a mouthful?)

What sets this game apart from other generic RPGs… it’s online and it’s free!

Runescape was started in the year 2000 by a kid who lived in his parent’s basement or something and it grew to be a multi-million dollar company because it charges money to play (don’t worry, you can still get a free Runescape account, it’s just that the search is more limited)

So what do you do in this game?

Basically, you choose a character from the game. It’s your avatar.

You can customize how it looks. You walk through this virtual world and you can do whatever you want.

For example, you could kill monsters. If you are lazy, you could do some cooking. If you feel like it, you can also build your own house. And finally, you could go fishing (oddly enough)

What is the best part of this game? What is free!

Unlike other games like World of Warcraft (I’m not hating World of Warcraft, don’t worry)

One other thing I should mention…

The graphics of this game are free and decent considering that it runs in your web browser without any special plugins except Java. (Most computers could handle this game, even if it’s 5 years old)
