8 More Ways to Make Your Articles Go the Extra Mile

Are you ready for your business to be noticed by hundreds, even thousands, on a daily basis? It is true that more and more online newsletter publishers and website owners are looking for new and original articles. They need your insightful information. Even so, the group of article marketers is also growing.

Glenn Murray, popular website writer for DivineWrite.com, wrote in a recent SiteProNews article: “As a result of its newfound popularity, the number of articles written and submitted has increased by 100% to 600% in the last year”.

With all this growth, there is a need to distinguish yourself in the group. My best advice is to write articles that solve a problem for your target audience. Write the solution. Write each article with a topic, problem and solution.

For example, there are other marketers like you and me who need a solution: an easy way to get free traffic, become an expert in your field, get free advertising, reach thousands at once, promote your book, business or service. These marketers are looking for ways to make their information easy to digest and apply. Here are eight more formats to write your easy articles and make them go the extra mile:

1. Shorts, Shorts Article. This article has gained popularity among article merchants because it offers brief information. Many directories have added a category for the 500 word article. Get and hold the attention of web readers by delivering short messages. You strive to gain the attention of your web reader; now make their click worthwhile with short, compelling copy in bite-size sizes.

Start with the conclusion. Your readers may not get to the end of your article sooner and use the rest of your article to support that main point.

2. Action-oriented article. I didn’t like watching most talk shows. I complained that they did a good job of presenting the problem, but no one offered solutions. Times have changed for most talk shows that present the problem and then present some form of solution.

The same goes for articles. Get in the habit of presenting the problem and then seek to engage your reader with action toward the solution. For example, a client of mine wrote an article on time management. One of the main points of his was to establish a schedule. To appeal to his readers, he included a blank schedule to fill in one line L___T___W___.

3. Command Hint Element. Most will say that they don’t like being told what to do. But our human psyche seems to respond despite what we like. The command has an immediate effect. Why? It connects to the “I do want that” point within all of us. The commands assure us that they will follow helpful advice. Tips that help us get what we want. It tells readers that it is possible to achieve the benefit the author claims. Start each suggestion with a command like ‘Do this’, Write this, Implement that. Then instruct them to put the tip into action.

4. Tip error. Wise people love to be warned about mistakes and pitfalls in any field so they don’t have to learn them the hard way. In college days, smart students weren’t necessarily the most popular. The popular ones were those who gave tips freely. I had a friend from college who was popular for this reason.

She advised you which teacher to sign up for quickly because her classes filled up fast. She gave him a hint about the class and the teacher to try to avoid. She advised you where to eat cheaply. So she creates popularity for her business, she writes down the top 5 mistakes in her field. One of my most popular website client articles includes “Top 5 Site Mistakes That Drive Your Customers Away In Less Than 2 Minutes.”

5. Interview article. Choose a reputable expert to interview and offer their best advice on problems/solutions. Do this format in the format of questions and answers by email. Choose specific questions that will give your audience specific solutions to their problems. Don’t forget to make this format go the extra mile for you using your website, blog, and/or ezine content.

6. Review article. Find your favorite resource, product, or website that helps you accomplish something in your field. Do a review of that resource. Does it make life easier? Does it allow you to complete faster? For example, you might rate a product on a scale of one to ten. Do you rate a ten, an eight, or a seven on your book? Rate the product in your article and then explain the brilliant things it has done for you through the experience. Do not forget to include the disadvantages of the product. Your audience will appreciate your honest evaluation.

7. Favorite resource item. I love this format. It can be similar to the top 10 cds or the top 20. You know that at the end of each year, many TV shows will air their top 10, top 20, and even top 50. Well, in the case of your article, you can time it around holidays or some other special occasion. I have seen some web developers post a top 20 to celebrate their birthday. Choose your celebration and write a list of the top ten resources in your field. Please list the resource and a mini review including why it was included in your top 20 list.

8. Success story article. Success stories are always great for sales. Why? Because results move people. Nothing that I know of will get people to flash their card better than a success story. Your audience will instantly say, “If he can do it, then I can do it.” Gather a few success stories and post them as a case study article. Or better yet, write your own success story with details that will make your sales skyrocket. Your audience wants to shine the breath of your success. For example, one client’s website jumped from just $20 to $1500 in just 3 months. Even with modest success, his readers would love to know what he did so they could do it too.

Do not wait more! If you wait to choose an article format, your traffic may never increase. Choose a format for your insightful information and write your article today. Remember, there is an information revolution online. Why not jump in before it’s too late? Start by writing a short article to promote your ezine, website, product, or service. Your readers have been waiting for your experience. Now just do it. Best wishes for your greatest success so far.
