“The Man Cave”. – The Man Cave is the term men use to describe our home area. The spouse does not have final approval of the design. Usually, the area is in the basement or study of your house. A common problem most guys have is designing a Man Cave in the first place. We want to make sure the room is worthy of being called a “man cave.”

In this article I want to give you four steps to design your own Man Cave design.

First of all, I realize that we are not interior designers nor do we want to be. However, we must make the room look professional but have a masculine touch. Let’s take a look at the 4 steps required to design the perfect Man Cave.

#1 Big Screen HDTV.

Before we begin, I’m assuming you have a quality big-screen TV as your focal point. The TV is a design element around which the entire room has been designed. The TV is the most important item as you will spend hours watching sports and movies in your Man Cave.

The position of the TV is crucial as you want to be able to watch the game from most, if not every seat in the room. The first thing to do is find out the position of your TV.

#2 Choose a theme

The next step is to choose a theme for your Man Cave room. I’ll assume you’re a fan of some sport; you could be a fan of the NFL, MLB, NBA or NCAA team, maybe NASCAR. Regardless of the sport, I’m sure you’re a fan of a couple of teams in these leagues.

The main decision to make is how many details you want to have in your decoration.

1. Do you want to hang a couple of photos of your favorite player or team?

2. Do you want to go all out and have everything on your team, from floor coverings to walls decorated with team plaques, photos and mirrors?

Most men decide to go the middle way with photos of their favorite players or banners of games and teams.

#3 Theme development time

After completing step two of choosing a theme, you now need to get the Man Cave decoration details. If you are a fan of the Green Bay Packers, you have to decide how you want to show your passion for the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers have a rich tradition over the past four decades. First, you can choose to go the Green Bay Packers history route by including photos of the great coach Vince Lombardi along with Bart Starr. Depending on your position, you’ll definitely want to consider including photos of Brett Favre. The final part would be to have photos of his last Super Bowl victory, Super Bowl XLV.

Once the team and player images are complete, you may decide to add smaller items to the collection, such as Super Bowl coins.

The detail part of the design is essential. You want to make sure that when your friends log in they know what team or sport you’re rooting for.

#4 Bar or Games Table

The final element is deciding if you want a card table or a bar. The ideal would be to have a card game table and a bar with a fridge. The refrigerator is essential because you don’t want to have to climb the stairs all the time to get your favorite drink.

A lot of guys like to have a table for poker or other card games because our favorite team doesn’t play 7 days a week. If you have enough space, you can make a separate area for your game table. In this area you can add images or bar mirrors of your favorite drink, such as Budweiser or other mirrors.

However you decide to design your Man Cave, make sure it is unique. With all the products available, from images to plaques and banners, you can easily design your own Man Cave. Making your Man Cave decor personal is an important ingredient that only you can add.
