Now that my Ouija board is in the trash, how do I talk to Marilyn Monroe?

Many of us grew up with the hype that Ouija boards are bad. They are portals to hell. The Urban Legends that Uncle Jimmy and his best friend Sarah wore a Ouija board and were tormented by nasty spirits. Out of fear, we have thrown them away. For fear of turning us into evil monsters, our parents have thrown our boards in the trash.

And now that? You still want to contact your grandmother, who recently passed away, and ask how she is. You have been asked to join a paranormal investigation group and search for spirits. Now she wishes she still had the Ouija board that she bought with her allowance when she was twelve years old. You are still afraid to use one. What are you going to do?

Well, spirits aren’t that fussy. They will be happy to use all the tools they can to contact you and even talk to you. Here are some alternatives to the Ouija board.

Pendulums

You can make your own pendulum out of nothing more than an old washer and a piece of string. How does that look to Green? A necklace or almost anything that can be suspended from a string or chain can be used as a pendulum.

You can buy pendulums online or in stores. There are beautiful crystal pendulums available. Some cost an arm and a leg, others a dollar or two. Metal shaking from construction supply stores works too. For more information, read my article, How to Talk to Spirits Using a Pendulum.

Cards

There are decks of cards specifically designed to speak to spirits. Among them are the Oracle deck of engraved images and Konxari cards based on an ancient communication system used by the Egyptians and Mayans. Each deck contains an information booklet to help you communicate with family members or receive messages.

Tilting table

Spiritualists have been contacting spirits for decades with table tips. Using a three-legged table, the Sance participants ask the Spirits to move the table in specific ways to touch or spell messages. If the table is tilted to the left, it could mean yes, or if the table hits the floor 3 times, it could mean the letter “C” or possibly, maybe. The system depends on the Spirits contacted and the participants. However, a three-legged table is not a requirement. A friend of mine and her niece have very successful Mediumship sessions using a folding game table.

A pendulum can easily be slipped into a pocket to travel to a place where you think you are likely to have contact with spirits. A deck of cards easily slides into a purse or purse. The table can be more of a challenge. This same friend developed a rather noisy entourage while trying to tip the table in Gettysburg National Park. Sometimes you need privacy.

So don’t worry about your MIA Ouija board. There are other things that you can easily use to get in touch with spirits. Just don’t think about who you may be talking to in the landfills.
