World of Warcraft and the Lich King Zippo

Zippo has done it again! They’ve created a lighter case that every World of Warcraft fan and collector will surely want. This is an elaborately carved vision of the Lich King in antique sterling silver.

Blizzard Entertainment has added a new dimension to its World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMRPG). Its interactive fantasy adventure game allows more than eight million players to interact with each other in great feats and heroic quests. With its new expansion, The Wrath of the Lich King, even more characters and adventures will be available to players. Zippo honors this addition to World of Warcraft lore with its Wrath of the Lich King lighter.

The lighter features intricate and detailed carvings on all sides. At the bottom of this World of Warcraft, lighter letters in a scary jagged font spell out the company name, Blizzard. A flat side of the lighter shows the carved hilt of a sword held in two strong hands. The pommel of the sword has small carved skulls surrounding it. This sword is the sword, the runic blade of Frostmoune.

It is the weapon of the Lich King. The hands belong to the human Arthas Menethil, who by making a pact with the shaman Ner’shul to gain enough power to take over the World of Warcraft Azeroth, became the Lich King and was imprisoned in the Frozen. throne. The ill results of Arthas’ pact are represented by the small skulls on the pommel of the sword. The skulls are the symbols of the undead army that the Lich King will use to take over the world of Azeroth. In the case, next to the hands, there is a dangerously pointed structure that reminds us of the Frozen Throne in the frozen and threatening lands of Northrend. There are also more skulls and a crown at the bottom of the lighter.

The flat opposite side of the lighter shows a bas-relief of the sword, Frostmourne, held in the same two hands, ready to be swung down to slay an enemy. Suspended from the guard of the sword is an evil devil ram, one of the Lich King’s evil minions. The sword itself is a fierce looking hunk of steel with spikes and hooks and sharp, pointy teeth. It is a sword that would rip and tear as it entered or was torn from flesh.

Finally, the edges of the lighter are carved with more skulls of the victims of the Lich King’s voracious appetite for blood and power. These skulls are members of the undead Burning Legion that the Lich King will use in his conquest of the rest of Azeroth. The skulls also remind the viewer of Gul’dan’s Skull which grants demonic power to anyone who encounters it.

This aged silver lighter could almost function as a talisman of strength and a reminder of evil intent for any World of Warcraft character who joins the Lich King.
