Dog Walking on Camber Sands Beach – For a Pet Friendly Vacation or Weekend

Why not make the most of your summer vacation or long weekend and take yourself and your “best friend” to Camber Sands?

It is very dog friendly and with many pubs and accommodation in the area it is a great way to recharge your batteries.

The most popular area to walk your pet is on the sands of Camber, west of the beach and the best place to park is when you arrive in Camber from the end of the Rye and Rye golf course.

If you have a “sat nav”, entering the zip code TN31 7RB will take you to the parking lot that best serves dog walking zones / areas.

The current parking fees (2012) in the District Council car parks are as follows: 8: 30-18: 00 –

€ 1.50 / hour

£ 4.00 / 2 hours

£ 7.00 / 4 hours

£ 9.00 / 6 hours

£ 11.00 / 8 hours

£ 13.00 / maximum

The car park stays open until 8pm … but then it’s closed … you won’t be able to get out!

With plenty of dog bins and restrooms, the facilities are worth the cost … and remember PLEASE use the bins and collect your dog’s bins.

In the summer, on a particularly sunny weekend, expect a bit of a queue to enter Camber as long lines build up as cars wait to enter the main parking lots near the beach. The busiest times are around 10:00 … if you arrive earlier, you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

If you are traveling to Camber in the summer (ending in September), the Rother Council introduced dog friendly areas on the beach where you are allowed to walk your dog. When the tide is out these areas stretch for miles and even at full tide there is plenty of room as the sand dunes go inland at least 500 yards in parts and the shoreline stretches west for at least a mile.

When the “dog zone” instructions were introduced, all dogs had to be leashed. This was aggressively controlled (for about six weeks) by dog guardians (or should I say, mostly college students with summer vacancies with places). However, this now appears to have been relaxed and as long as the walkers are sensitive and in designated areas, you shouldn’t be bothered.

The direction it will automatically take will be West and if the tide is out why not walk to the end of the beach (Rye Harbor entrance), turn right along the river towards the Harbor Masters office. You can then return to the parking lot along the legal walkway through the Rye Golf Course. Dog bins are limited in this area, so take plenty of bags with you!

The round trip is about four miles total … watch out for golf balls And keep your dog on a leash!

Along with great dog walks, Camber, Rye and Rye Bay have so much more to offer than just the glorious sandy beach and we really recommend taking a longer break and visiting the historic town of Rye, or Rye Harbor, where the fabulous Reserve is located. Rye Harbor native. with miles of asphalt and more opportunities for dog walking. The Nature Reserve also has many containers for dogs.

If you’re looking for a room for the night, there are plenty of PET-FRIENDLY hotels in the area that will allow you to make the most of your visit … so what are you waiting for …? Camber Sands and the Rye Bay area!
