Dasha’s Healing

One day my wife, standing in our daughter’s place, called her little dog, Dasha, out for a walk. Such a decision had always been received with great joy by Dasha. However, that afternoon Dasha’s breathing was very irregular and her eyes were full of sadness. When my wife wanted to hug Dasha, the dog started screaming. Obviously extreme pain was present there. The next day was going to be so busy for our daughter that my wife offered to drive Dasha over to our house.

When Dasha was brought to our house the next morning, she was not happy as usual. In most of it, she greeted us by dancing on her hind legs. She didn’t allow us to even pat her neck. Dasha was breathing heavily. She couldn’t lift her head to greet us. Her tail is an indicator of happiness and this day she hung on him. Dasha didn’t greet me and she didn’t lie down next to me, as she had always done before. Dasha just walked around me, breathing heavily. When I tried to gently touch her neck, she cried out just like she had the night before.

Dasha was clearly in need of emergency care. She had no experience praying for animals, although she remembered some testimonies about the wonderful healings of animals. My heart went out to that adorable little dog but I still wasn’t sure how to pray for her. Then, different ideas began to occupy my consciousness. I reasoned that animals are created in the image of God, as is man.

Suddenly the liberating thought that “All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation” lit up my mind. From that spiritual fact, I went on to reason that God, Mind, made animals good. So our puppy should also reflect the health, goodness and perfection in his life. Realizing this eternal truth and seeing that Dasha was still suffering, I called out to God with all my soul. I started talking to Dasha, stating the truth about our little dog as God’s creature. I told Dasha with divine authority: “Dasha, God made all creatures good, including you, and therefore you are free from any discord!”

I have learned in the divine Science of Mind that there can be no inharmonious action or mental malpractice in the perfect and omnipresent God where all His creation exists. So I began to fervently deny in my mind that any abnormality could have a place in Dasha’s being. There could be no power to take Dasha. Those thoughts became so obvious to me because of my study of the Science of Mind, described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The principles of how to pray are also described in the article The Art of Prayer.

As Dasha was still tossing and turning, I firmly continued to utter the aforementioned truths about Dasha’s being for another 10 minutes until her breathing calmed and she sat quietly in a corner. With great joy and happiness I praised God for that first step of healing. I was still clinging to the truth that all creation that God has made is good, including Dasha. Then no disharmony could enter God’s creation which is the Kingdom of Heaven or harmony. In a few minutes, Dasha was already lying down peacefully. Later, when I stood up, Dasha, as usual, happily ran to me, raised her head and let me shake it. Her tail was up again. Being ready for her breakfast, she quickly ran to be fed.

That healing brought another harmonious result. After walking with Dasha, I discovered that I sometimes experienced trouble breathing. After that prayer treatment that morning, she walks freely home after walking, without a sign of heavy breathing. I glorified God for that healing and for learning that animals, like children, are also so receptive to spiritual truth and healing.
