5 hot spots to adjust for higher conversion rates

All successful marketers know that the sale comes from the words or the copy. While the traditional definition of copy is print sales In fact, I take a broader approach. The copy is used in ALL your promotional sales and marketing materials. That means that anywhere there are words about your business, there is a copy. Then it is EVERYWHERE. Some people will spend a lot of money on website design or graphics, but they are reluctant to learn the only skill that is a real silver bullet when it comes to increasing revenue quickly: tweaking the copy. Don’t make that mistake. Your business is too important.

Here are 5 specific hot spots any entrepreneur can tweak to start making money.

Home page website copy

Your home page or index page is the most important on your site for two reasons. First, it is your welcome mat. Explain what the visitor will find on your site. Hopefully there is enough information to entice you to stay and visit other pages on your site. Second, the home page carries the most weight in search engines. Good copy can attract search engines while strategically distributing keywords and keyword phrases that get your message across.

Sales letters A good sales letter is at the center of the most successful marketing campaigns. I call the sales letters mother of all marketing because they have all the necessary elements for an effective promotion. You can break it up for use in descriptions about your product on the back cover, in advertisements, in emails … the possibilities are endless. But you have to walk a fine line between exaggerated hype and grabbing the attention of a potential customer. There is a definite art to writing a successful sales letter, but it is not rocket surgery, as I like to say. (I am famous for mixing up my metaphors without knowing it.) There is a specific pattern that you will notice if you study other sales letters, which I recommend you do. Things to modify:

  • Headlines
  • Subtitle
  • Opening
  • Price
  • Bonuses
  • Call to action
  • P.S.

Articles When people see your name enough times, they come to recognize it (can you say, free publicity?). Best of all, you are known as an expert in your field. Post articles on your website and watch your search engine rankings improve. Just be sure to provide your name and contact information should remain on any forwarded materials. In general, people are quite cooperative if you just ask. (Psst! I found a great resource that writes basic articles for you for around $ 12! Www.justarticles.com Personally, I don’t use them for my ezine, but they can give you a head start on your library.)

Things to modify:

  • Article titles
  • Long
  • Update shirttails (about the author)

E-books Electronic books (or electronic books) are fully downloadable files that are generally created in a format that is difficult to copy like PDF. And they are fast becoming the new printing standard. Microsoft projects that within five years, more than 50% of all new books will be in e-book format. They are a great way to generate passive income. Spend some time thinking about your idea. Check online bookstores like Amazon.com to see what’s on the market. If you want help, James Roche, the information product guy, http://www.infoproductguy.com is awesome at yanking the product out of you. Things to modify:

Electronic publications One of the best ways to stay in touch with your customers is through an ezine or “ezine” like this one. These are newsletters that are emailed on a regular basis with valuable information that people want to read. You can also announce new products, contests, and special promotions. As long as you provide something of value, people will allow you to market them. But beware. By the time your ezine turns into nothing more than a long ad, you will lose subscribers in droves. Do you need help getting started? My friend Alexandria Brown, the Ezine Queen can guide you through the process.

Things to modify:

  • Put the content on top
  • Don’t overwhelm with ads
  • Add stories and observations
  • Give helpful advice

Remember, never stop improving your copy. Small adjustments are very important when it comes to increasing profits.
